China has issued a “behavioural standards” guide to combat pollution and reduce environmental damage

This is an interesting development in China. This instruction was in August, and it does suggest that the Chinese government expects that individual behaviour change plays an important role in environmental quality. I hope there will be some research available that quantifies the incidence of behaviour change and the change in environmental indicators.

Obviously China’s air quality issues do not rest solely on the behaviours of its citizens. But on the other hand, with a population of 1.4 billion residents, there may be significant benefits if they can get people to make some simple changes to their environmental behaviours.
